BPM enjoyed some real Texas BBQ at our Summer Barbecue; it was an opportunity to celebrate getting most folks back in our facility in Houston, Texas. Originally, we planned on having it out on the back parking lot, but it was too dad-gum hot. Food was catered by Rudy’s, a Texas BBQ institution: Brisket, Chicken, plus all the trimmings, including some real down-home cobbler and banana pudding. For those of you not fortunate to live near a good Barbecue joint, you can order just about anything and have it delivered just about anywhere– check out their store here.
WhisperTeach is BPM’s patented hardware/software solution to the z-teach in Automated Programming. It makes set-ups fast, easy, and (most importantly) much more accurate than is possible with a human operator. Colin and Scott are hosting this 30-minute (or so) Virtual Demo
We set up a BPM 3928 Automated Programming System (APS) with exactly the same specs: BGA153 Devices with a 24 second programming time, 16 Sockets on 4 sites, Tray-input, Tray-output, with a small reject tray.
Tray requires 3 locations to be “taught”, plus the rejects tray, plus each of the 16 socket “pockets”.
We had part “deaux” of our company-wide “Half-Happy Hour” where about 18 folks (had a few pop in and out) got to relax, kick their feet up for a bit, and perhaps sip on something tall and cool. Rather than a trivia party, we talked about what we wanted to be when we were in the 5th grade (Veterinarians were popular, one hobo (thankfully a dream deferred), and a few unfulfilled sports stars. Only one batman). Sai conferenced in from India where it was about 2am… and we learned that Charlie has “about 42 beer steins.” Many of us shared good things to come out of our current health crisis– such as saving money on gas, or shorter commutes for those still coming into the office. Spending more quality time with family was popular.
It was great to see everyone. Next time, we’re going to have a virtual scavenger hunt / talent show*. How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice…
*or not… we’ll see.
We had our first company-wide “Half-Happy Hour” where about 20 of us blew off a little steam (there may have been some adult beverages consumed, but we can neither confirm nor deny). We got to introduce a couple of new peeps to the BPM fam, Shelby and Cassie. We recognized a hand-full of folks who have been with us for over 20 years, including Trung who has worked here for 29 years! (Bill W doesn’t count, but he’s been here 35)
Most folks are still working remotely, so it was nice to catch up. The rule was, “no talking about work-related stuff.”
We did some trivia using a service called kahoot.it… it was a “hoot”– most folks got “who’s buried in Grant’s Tomb” (hint: it’s Grant). Nobody got “besides chimps and gorillas, what other animal has human-like fingerprints” (Koala Bears!). Congrats to Jon for answering most quickly and correctly, followed by Jennifer M. and Robert. Jon gets the bragging rights, plus a $25 gift card.
IPC APEX EXPO is the largest event for electronics manufacturing in North America attracting more than 9,000 professionals from 45 countries. From the industry’s leading technical conference and application-focused professional development courses, to the innovation-driven exhibit floor, IPC APEX EXPO 2020 will be packed with far-reaching ideas and insights.
BPM is celebrating 20 years exhibiting at APEX on our 35th anniversary as a company. It’s been a great show, perhaps a little slower than last year.
It’s not too late! Stop by our booth (1604) before 2pm February 6th. Come see the fastest-selling Automated Programmer in BPM’s history… the 3901.
